Reunited at last on the tenth day

I woke up full of excitement. Today I will finally be reunited with Aurora and Fritz. I went upstairs, careful not to run.

Glasnosh happily followed me up, and I suddenly hoped that all my pets would get along. I shouldn’t have worried. Aurora was waiting at the top of the stairs, I knelt down to pet her, and she purred.

Fritz wasn’t far behind. He came and sniffed at Glasnosh, decided she was harmless and yipped at me.

A goblin appeared out of nowhere, and Sting started glowing blue. I was too shocked to see the fucking nymph until after it had stolen two more darts and vanished. All that time, and my pets still hadn’t caught it. I took care of the goblin, then resolved to get my stuff back. No matter the cost.

I cast my spell for detecting monsters. Oh shit. There’s a major demon. I’m going to have to take care of it before I start hunting down that nymph. I will try to keep my pets away though, keep them safe at least.

I head toward the room, unfortunately Aurora and Fritz are right behind me. A wild dog comes up behind Aurora, and she turns to fight it. I pause for a moment, but decide she can handle herself. I continue to where I last saw the demon, Fritz still at my side.

I get to the hall leading towards it, and I see a hideous red scaled creature. A second later, it's covered in mist.

The mist clears, and it's been transformed into a young man. He's a perfect specimen, from what I can see at this distance anyway. He has large legs, obviously strong. They're connected to a well toned stomach, complete with well defined abs. He has a small pair of man boobs, what I consider to be the perfect size. I hate when they're larger than an average woman's. His arms are like his legs. Large, and obviously muscular.

I can't make out his face, but I know it will be the face of my dreams. This demon is an incubus. I don't know how much of the rumours are true. I know it wants me dead, but it’s very nature is sexual. It transforms into my ideal mate, then tries to seduce me. It has no control over it’s actions, and I have heard it is like a curse for them. They hate humans, and elves, and want nothing more than to kill each and every one of us, but it is forced against it’s will to seduce them instead.

I know that I could leave it to my pets to fight, but I’m not sure who the winner would be. I’ve also heard that if you’re smart enough, you can take advantage of the demons condition and come ahead. I decide to face it on my own.

I mentally prepare myself, and slowly walk forward.

I won’t go into the details here, but I need to talk about it, so if you want the full details you can read them.

When we finish, he disappears. I feel refreshed, and can now go find that fucking nymph. I cast the spell to see where she is.

I go straight there, and as soon as I get close, I get my spare daggers ready. This time I won’t let it get close enough to take anything.

I see her, and throw my first dagger. All my pets have gathered around to help, but they are smart enough to leave an open space for my second dagger. The nymph tries to run away, and a poisoned dart in her back brings her down.

I gather up all my stolen belongings, and struggle with the weight of them. I take a look through my bag, but don’t see anything I’m ready to live without. I decide I can live with it for now. I’m not sure what to do next, so I decide to give Spoiler another call, and ask him about the second staircase.

“Hello Faylen,” Spoiler answers.

“Hya Spoiler, how are you doing?” I ask.

“Not very good, I had to bury five cows today.” He said.

“They went bad? You need to keep a schedule or something, or maybe pay attention to your job.” I joke.

“If I focused on my job I wouldn’t have time for these wonderful chats with you.” He said.

“Anhur forbid,” I said.

“Since I’m skirting my duties anyway, what do you need?” He asked.

“Well, the main reason I needed to talk to you is to ask about this set of stairs I’ve found.”

“Oh, yes,” He said. “I should have realized. I read about them on your blog. I’ve been waiting for you to call about them. I trust you found Aurora and Fritz safe and sound.”

“They’re fine,” I said. “I feel a bit embarrassed by my concern.”

“Don’t be,” He said. “You care about them. That’s normal. Just try not to get too attached. They can be killed in an instant, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Remember that vision you had of the scorpion? Yeah, the deadly poison could have infected one of them just as easily as that knight.”

“Oh my Anhur,” I exclaim. “I didn’t even think of that.”

“Keep calm,” he soothed. “They’re still with you now. Enjoy it, take care of them, just don’t forget that they won’t live forever. Even if they die of old age, it will likely be long before your death.”

“Can we stop talking about them, please?” I ask. “Maybe talk about those stairs.”

“Of course,” he replied. “Those stairs lead to Sokoban.”

I start to reply, but he cuts me off. “It’s a series of four puzzles you have to solve, for a grand reward.”

“Reward!?” I exclaim. “I’m up for that. What do I need to do?”

“There is a hall full of holes,” Spoiler explains. “You have to push boulders into the holes, and then cross safely to the other side. The problem is that boulders can get stuck, or you get stuck, or monsters stop you from moving them.”

“That’s fine,” I exclaim. “I have a spell that will take care of all of that.”

“NO!” He screams. “You mustn’t use your spell of force bolt. It’s bad luck.”

“I should have known there was a catch.” I say. “Is there anything else that’s considered bad luck?”

“So much,” he replies. “Changing a boulder in any way is bad, through breaking it, polymorphing it, and a few other spells. You can’t jump, slip around a boulder if you’re thin enough. There’s also some scrolls of earth you will find there. Don’t use them. Of course, after you have solved the level and filled in all of the pits, you can do as you wish.”

“That’s a lot of rules,” I say. “I think I can handle them though. Is there anything else I should know?”

“The top floor has another zoo,” he said. “It will be filled with creatures, and chances are some of them are too strong for you to easily handle.”

“So, should I wait until I’m stronger to come back?” I ask.

“That’s up to you, of course,” he replies. “Remember the treasure though. It could come in really handy further down.”

“Ok. I’ll give it a try,” I say. “I can always run away if things look overwhelming, right? I have the spell to detect monsters, so I will know immediately if I need to turn tail.”

“That sounds like a solid plan,” he replies. “May Anhur be with you.”

With that, Spoiler hangs up on me. Great. What if I need him? How did he know I didn’t have any other questions? Whatever, I need to move on.

I should have a nap, it’s been a long day. I double check to make sure my pets are all safe before closing my eyes.
